Tripp Lite HOME THEATER 1500 AV UPS ( HT1500UPS ) Review

I have owned this product for several years (probably about three) and it worked flawlessly for quite a few power outages lasting from a few minutes to three hours.However, during the most recent three-hour outage, the battery was drained.After recharching, the self-test checked out OK.About a week later, I noticed all equipment (two DVD recorders) connected to the backup outlets were powerless.It turns out the battery had died, so I ordered a new one.Easy enough, right?WRONG.The plastic housing that contains the battery was very tight, I could not get the original battery out.It turns out the original battery had RUPTURED and created a hole at the side of the battery (about the size of a pencil eraser) and the plastic casing next to the hole had bowed out, creating a "dimple."Since there is so little clearance around the battery, this rupture in the battery caused the battery itself to expand a centimeter or two beyond the edge of the battery, preventing its removal.I had to disassemble the unit and break the plastic housing for the battery to get it out.In my opinion, these batteries should NOT rupture, and I hope that the supplier of the new battery (with a "Tripp-Lite sticker on the top) produced a better quality of battery.One can never tell with parts made in China.
