I use it for my laptop while in Europe.

Works well - light is still green (though I haven't experienced a surge yet)

I like the fact that it's in-line, which can be useful if you don't want to lug around a power strip or have a bulky socket-based protector

Works on European and American voltages. You will need a plug adapter if you want to use American-style plugs in foreign countries.

Also, FYI, almost all laptops nowadays work in dual voltages, so there's no need for a voltage converter. Just look on you laptop's power adapter for something like 100-240 volts.
